Merging Ontologies via Kernel Contraction
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ontologies have been largely used to represent terminological knowledge, specially with the advent of the Semantic Web. As knowledge is not static, it is crucial to learn how to deal with ontology dynamics, which includes Ontology Merging and Debugging. Basically, we want to deal with the inconsistencies and incoherences that may occur when a knowledge base receives a new information or when two or more ontologies are merged. Our purpose in this work is to show some ways to extend and use the BContractor framework, originally proposed for Belief Revision, to implement operations in ontologies.

Ontology Merging Using Belief Revision and Defeasible Logic Programming
We combine argumentation, belief revision and description logic ontologies for extending the δ-ontologies framework to show how to merge two ontologies in which the union of the strict terminologies could lead to inconsistency. To solve this problem, we revisit a procedure presented by Falappa et al. in which part of the offending terminologies are turned defeasible by using a kernel revision o...
متن کاملA Benchmark for Ontologies Merging Assessment
In the last years, ontology modeling became popular and thousands of ontologies covering multiple fields of application are now available. However, as multiple ontologies might be available on the same or related domain, there is an urgent need for tools to compare, match, merge and assess ontologies. Ontology matching, which consists in aligning ontology, has been widely studied and benchmarks...
متن کاملEvaluation of Ontology Merging Tools in Bioinformatics
Ontologies are being used nowadays in many areas, including bioinformatics. One of the issues in ontology research is the aligning and merging of ontologies. Tools have been developed for ontology merging, but they have not been evaluated for their use in bioinformatics. In this paper we evaluate two of the most well-known ontology merging tools with a bioinformatics perspective. As test ontolo...
متن کاملSMART: Automated Support for Ontology Merging and Alignment
As researchers in the ontology-design field develop the content of a growing number of ontologies, the need for sharing and reusing this body of knowledge becomes increasingly critical. Aligning and merging existing ontologies, which is usually handled manually, often constitutes a large and tedious portion of the sharing process. We have developed SMART, an algorithm that provides a semi-autom...
متن کاملA Statistical Amalgamation Approach for Ontologies
As ontology is subjective and varies in different domains, the amount of ontologies turns out to be huge but with poor compatibility. Mainstream method for ontology integration is mostly achieved by establishing mappings between ontologies. In this essay, the author put forward another way of ontology merging. After statistic machine learning on concept relations, the frequency of different ont...
